New Temporary Exhibition
What’s in the Attic:
Seven Decades of Collecting at the Augusta Museum of History

The Augusta Museum of History  presents its newest temporary exhibition, What’s in the Attic: Seven Decades of Collecting at the Augusta Museum of History, featuring some of the most interesting, bizarre and unusual artifacts in the museum’s collections. Yes, the infamous Shrunken Head is back on display for the first time since being packed away in the move from the Telfair museum site. And remember Duke Restaurant, meeting place for Augusta friends to gather for a great breakfast or lunch? Well, you can once again see its sign, door, booth and menu set up and waiting for a customer.  What’s in the Attic is an invitation to stroll down memory lane with Hollingsworth Candy, Haskell’s Dairy, Claussen’s Bakery, Dent’s Undertaking, a 1912 UGA Letterman Jacket, a 1934 stuffed Mickey Mouse, a re-creation of a 1925 Dentist’s Office and so much more. The exhibition is located in two second-floor galleries of the museum rotunda until November 28, 2004. Come explore 70 years in Augusta’s most fascinating attic.
