The Board of Trustees of the Augusta Museum of History is pleased to welcome Nancy J. Glaser to the position of Executive Director. Ms. Glaser has more than twenty-eight years of experience in museum administration, most recently as Museum Division Director at the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort, Kentucky. She joined the museum on July 1, 2005.
Board president, Bill Coleman said, “Nancy brings us tremendous enthusiasm and a wealth of experience from collections management and display development to marketing and fundraising. I believe she will be an outstanding leader and a true asset to our organization.
Serving as an Outreach Coordinator, Ms. Glaser began her career in 1979 at The Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia. She subsequently served as Program Representative of Student State Services, Head of Education and State Services, and Assistant Chief of Operations at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Florida; and Executive Director at Richmond Children’s Museum, Richmond, Virginia. Her many professional affiliations include the American Association of Museums (AAM) Accreditation Visiting Committee, the AAM Education Committee, the Association of Youth Museums, and the Lexington History Museum Board.
Ms. Glaser believes that the museum is a place where history lives. Her goal is to have visitors coming back time after time to experience a connection with the history of our region. “I want to take the Augusta Museum of History to a “WOW” level and I have an excellent foundation upon which to build.” “I look forward to working with the Museum board, staff, and the CSRA community to ensure the continued success of this vital organization.”
